The month of November 2016 saw the hustle and bustle with preparations for the 11th International Congress of the Associations of Minimal Access Surgeons India (AMASICON 2016) which was held in the famous convention centre in Kolkata, Science City from the 17th to the 20th of December. Unlike before, the 11th AMASICON in Kolkata witnessed a power pact Scientific Program with 4 Parallel Sessions on each day of the conference, 7 Skill Courses, Convocation ceremony, a glorious Gala Dinner and memories shared amongst all present to last.
The Association of Minimal Access Surgeons India has a membership of Gynaecologists, Surgeons from the various fields of Endoscopy, Laparoscopy, Colonoscopy and so on. AMASICON 2016 also gave the delegates the opportunity to attend the 7 skill courses which were set up in the halls for the delegates to attend and better themselves on only the 18th & 19th of November 2016. The topics of the skills courses that took place were Hands on Skill on Energy Devices, how to video Document & Edit, Basic Endoscopy & ERCP, how to prepare and publish a manuscript, Stapler & Anastomosis in Animal Tissue, but the skill courses which really drew everyone’s attention to the point the halls were over flowing with delegates were Endo Suturing & Knotting skills and hands on Hernia Training.
The Conference was attended by 1673 Delegates, and witnessed an exhibition comprising of 60 stalls. The Delegates were enamoured by the great spread at the lunch and dinners and the hospitality at the city of joy!
AMASICON successfully ended on the 20th of November with a closing ceremony attended by all delegates which was conducted by Dr. Tamonas Chaudhuri, The Organizing Secretary of AMASICON 2016 and now President of the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons India. He addressed the delegation and thanked all for their contribution and participation both professionally and personally. He was also highly appreciative at CIMGlobal India Pvt. Ltd. For managing and executing the conference seamlessly by calling out each team member by their name and thanking them for their efforts.
