Over the past two decades, the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Chapter of Indian Academy of Pediatrics has been at the forefront of academic activities among Pediatricians in India.
The 21st Annual Conference of the PHO Chapter – PHOCON 2017 held from 24th-26th November at Novotel, Rajarhat, Kolkata. After 17 years this conference was back to Kolkata- India’s second-biggest city which is a daily festival of human existence, simultaneously noble and squalid, cultured and desperate. It is regarded as an intellectual and cultural capital of India.
CIMGlobal was appointed by TATA Medical Center (TMC), Kolkata to execute this important event. TMC, Kolkata, is a philanthropic initiative from the House of Tata. Its mission is to promote prevention of cancer, to provide facilities for early diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and palliation to cancer patients, and to do research in cancer.
Experts from across the globe like Prof. Ananth Shankar, Dr. Chui Chan Hon, Dr. Johann Hitzler, Dr. Sima Jeha, Dr. Monika Metzger, Dr. Stefan Rutkowski were present to discuss cutting edge advances in the treatment of childhood cancers and hematological disorders. The focus was on interaction and exchange of ideas that would enable best possible care for these children.
The conference brought together over 250 professionals, including doctors, nurses, Pediatric Oncologists, Medical Oncologists, Clinical Hematologists, Pediatricians, Pediatric Surgeons, Radiation Oncologists, Pathologists, Basic Scientists, students, trainees and psycho-social counselors from various parts of the country.
Various prestigious bodies such as the Tata Medical Center Trust, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR, New Delhi) held out a supporting hand for this prestigious conference.
PHOCON 2017 came to a successful conclusion establishing itself as a strong academic conference purely based on sharing knowledge.
