The Event for Associations’ Growth: IAC 2019

India Association Congress (IAC) organized by Indian Society of Association Executives (ISAE) came with its 7th edition under the theme of “Interconnected World of Associations”. This edition of IAC addressed the issues faced by trade protectionism policies that are adopted by few countries but also shared the best practices of how associations can use their strengths to form alliances worldwide and utilize its global connections to overcome any obstacles. Associations bring people together for common good. In line with this spirit, IAC helps to build a strong community of associations with their Director Generals, Secretary Generals, Senior Executives and more members, the IAC in its 7th edition worked a lot more in letting the members of IAC know, learn and explore best practices of sharing knowledge and ideas for the betterment of their respective associations which enhances the value of their members.

The objective of India Association Congress was-

  • To create a knowledge sharing and networking platform for Indian professional and trade associations and build a strong community of associations.
  • To emphasize on various topics related to the theme of IAC 2019 ‘Interconnected World of Associations’.
  • To explore the best practices and share ideas and viewpoints for the betterment of each industry in the country.
  • To provide an opportunity for upcoming professionals to learn and get trained by the various esteemed industry experts.

The above objectives were fully covered in the conference and gave the new path of thinking and collaborating of associations with other associations.

The two days conference started with the welcome speech by the chairman of IAC, Prasant Saha. He welcomed all the associations together and explained why IAC 2019 is important for their association concerning future development and how IAC works in their association’s membership growth. The conference covered the issues in the panel discussion as follows:

  • Beyond Membership Fees
  • Conflicts of Interest and Professional Medical Associations
  • Communication between Association and Government
  • Data: Essential for Association Innovation
  • Cooperation, not Protectionism
  • Cross-Cultural Concerns

Apart from panel discussions Destination Update/ Master Class by Singapore Tourism Board was one of the highlights of the conference. Singapore Tourism was this year’s country partner at the India Association Congress which ranks as one of the top business and MICE travel destinations in the world. We are glad to partner with Singapore Tourism Board to the IAC 2019.

The special talk on “Taking the Lead” by Dr. Vishal Rao, who is the Head & Neck Oncologist and a session on the topic “Building your Brand” by Ashutosh Garg, the Business and Executive Coach and a Storyteller took the limelight at the conference.

The Association Excellence Awards proved to be strategic for all, with the excitement building over the evening to fever pitch just before the winners of the Awards were announced. On behalf of the jury, the quality of entries made it a difficult process to choose a winner from very worthy finalists. All the entrants should be very proud of their staff and the obvious effort that has been put into the activities throughout the year- something reflected in the submissions this year.
