AFITA/WCCA 2018 is the collaborative scientific program on Precision Agriculture. Precision Agriculture is about managing variations in the field accurately to grow more food using fewer resources and reducing production costs. All aspects of the environment – soil, weather, vegetation, water – vary from place to place. All these factors determine crop growth and farming success. Farmers have always been aware of this, but they lacked the tools to measure, map and manage these variations precisely. Thus, precision farming can make a difference to food production facing the challenge of a rising world population and can help farmers to achieve greater sustainability, environmental protection, higher productivity and economic benefits.
AFITA/WCCA 2018 Conference is organized by Asia-Pacific Federation for Information Technology (AFITA), International Network for Information Technology in Agriculture (INFITA), and Indian Society for Agricultural Information Technology (INSAIT) with the aim to coalesce the ‘Research Frontiers in Precision Agriculture’ for sharing the recent advances in Remote Sensing & GIS, ICTs, IoT, sensor networks, image processing, robotics, machine learning, big data analytics, etc. in agricultural applications.
The research contributions through presentations, posters, workshops/special sessions, etc. will focus on supporting the development and implementation of these frontier technologies for a competitive, sustainable and environment-friendly agriculture.
This event offers a unique range of practical insights on applying technology to developmental aspects in Precision Agriculture while attracting a diverse and international audience of over 300 scientists, rapporteurs, senior program managers, technical advisors, executives & entrepreneurs.
Hon’ble Vice President of India has kindly agreed to be the Chief Guest and Director General of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and will deliver Inaugural Address in the conference.
IIT Bombay is hosting AFITA/WCCA2018 conference in VMCC, IIT Bombay, Mumbai from 24-26 October 2018. This co-located conference is a part of IIT Bombay’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.
